Carla Allen is a Health & Wellness Coach and a Podcaster. She is 58 years old and is on fire for life and helping others realize that age is just a number! She has been passionate about the health and nutrition and fitness world for most of her adult life. Carla is on a mission to help change the mindsets of women that their age is not their cage. Her positive attitude about aging is contagious as she often says, “it’s never too late and you’re never too old!” She loves to encourage others that you can still achieve your optimal health, start that exercise program, try out a new hobby, or create that business you’ve been dreaming about! Carla began her health coaching business and debuted her podcast “Your Age Is Not Your Cage™” in her 50’s, so she’s proof that you can do anything at any age! Carla is now living out her childhood dream of being a radio DJ through her new podcasting journey. Her passion is talking and sharing inspirational stories of amazing, brave, bold, courageous women and men that have overcome challenges in their lives and are now thriving more than ever. Carla’s heart’s desire is for her podcast to be a space where her listeners feel empowered with a new confidence, encouraged with a renewed hope, and forever changed to want to pursue the life God has called them to with all they’ve got. Carla has been married to her hubby, Sonny for 25 years and has two amazing adult children and a sweet daughter-in-law, along with her two sweet puppy dogs, Waylon & Boone. Carla loves Jesus, hanging out with her family, is passionate about all things to do with health, nutrition, wellness, & exercise, she loves walking, enjoys lifting weights at the gym, and she is happiest doing anything that is outdoors! She is an empty-nester that believes these years can truly be the best years of your life and she wants you to believe it for yourself too! Her motto: If you’re still here, you’re not done living! Today I’m chatting with Dr. Mary Pardee, a Naturopathic Medical Doctor and a Certified Functional Medicine Doctor specializing in preventative medicine and longevity. Dr. Mary is the founder of “Modrn Med,” a medical practice that provides medical and health services to patients via in-person consults as well as telemedicine. Her primary focus is on closing the healthspan-lifespan gap, extending lifespan (how long you live); while enhancing healthspan (how well you live).

On today’s episode, I’m talking about what my “superpower” is. It might not be what you think it would be. It’s my non-negotiable every, single day. My superpower is PRAYER. Don’t tune out on me if this is not your thing. Give it a chance. I’d love for you to listen to this and see if my stories and experiences can help change your mind.
The power of prayer is an incredible thing and not something you just do at meal time thanking God for your food, or a quick prayer in the morning and then you’re done for the day. Prayer is a conversation that you can engage in all day long.
I believe that if you are intentional about prayer and incorporate it into your daily rhythms, your days will be filled with so much more joy, hope, and gratitude. Your desire to make others feel valued, loved, and seen will increase and become a part of who you are as you ask God daily to open doors and give you opportunities everyday to make someone’s life better.
This episode is very near and dear to my heart and my prayer is that it will touch you deeply and cause you to incorporate prayer into your daily routine.

On today’s episode, I’m talking about mindset and how much mindset matters especially in what you say and speak over yourself. Mindset influences how you think, feel, and behave in any given situation. It means that what you believe about yourself impacts your success or failure. Mindsets can influence how people behave in a wide range of situations in life from health to business to relationships and to how you handle circumstances that come up in your everyday life.
Positive thinking is so important because it can have a huge impact on both your physical and mental well-being. People who maintain a more positive outlook on life, believe in themselves, and speak positive words over themselves cope better with stress, have better immunity, improved relationships, and have a lower risk of illnesses.

Even if you’re not in your 40’s+ yet, this episode is still for you!
Who says strength training is just for the young? I love lifting weights! I love feeling stronger! I’m so passionate about advocating for the transformative power of strength training, especially for women over 40. It’s truly a vital part of maintaining health and vitality, boosting metabolism, and improving mental well-being. Age shouldn’t stop you! Age is just a number. As most of you who have listened know, I am 59 and will be 60 in November. I’ve never been more active and healthy than I am now!

So, it’s time to dust off those dumbbells or get to the gym and embrace strength training. Don’t let age be the cage that keeps you from achieving your potential! Remember, strength training isn’t just about the muscles; it’s the key to a healthier, happier life after 40 and beyond.
With the many benefits strength training has to offer, there’s no reason not to make it a part of your routine. Together, let’s redefine fitness over 40, change the world’s narrative about aging, and prove that age isn’t a boundary, but a launchpad for our best selves!
